Republicans Skipping RNC Are Talking Mad Shit About It

With the kind of circus show a Trump RNC has already become, it’s no wonder some of the big players in the GOP have decided to sit this one out. Obviously, these are some of Trump’s most bitter critics, and they haven’t been shy about sharing exactly how the feel about the clusterfuck in Cleveland.
From NPR:
Sen. [Ben] Sasse will not be attending the convention and will instead take his kids to watch some dumpster fires across the state, all of which enjoy more popularity than the current front-runners,” a spokesman for the Nebraska Republican and frequent Trump critic told The Hill.
Damn! Listen up, this is some of the best political shade you’ll read all RNC:
Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, who clashed with Trump in his attempt to mend fences with congressional Republicans earlier this month, has said he will be “mowing my lawn,” according to the New York Times. Montana Sen. Steve Daines also told the paper he’ll literally be gone fishing (fly fishing, that is).
Many others have scheduled foreign trips and dentist appointments in lieu of going to the conference. Gov. John Kasich took it one step further and actually pledged to speak to the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce right across town in Cleveland at the same time Trump himself will no doubt be plagiarizing another Obama speech.
Romney has called Trump “a fraud and phony,” and will be boycotting the event as well. Other notable party elites joining him include the Koch Brothers, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio, and Condi Rice.
Most prominently, all three Bushes will be also skipping the RNC. Dubya and H.W. are still penning their mic droppers, but maybe Jeb said it best. When asked by CNN if he was going to Cleveland, the former Florida governor responded a flat “no.”
We’ll see how this all turns out, but hey, I guess I can always respect wanting to skip work to watch a dumpster fire..

These Washington career Republicans need to stfu and let Mr. Trump make America great again. Sorry your asses couldn’t get it done
10 years ago at 12:38 pmI got friends from republican, democrat, and independent leanings with informed opinions (not all ones I agreed with but nonetheless) move to backing Johnson after seeing their candidate not get the nom. There’s no reason that a 3rd party can’t get into the main stream. A majority of the population want to have at least 3 parties in the system just for it to run better.
Personally I don’t believe that a “vote for a 3rd party is really just a vote for (whichever candidate the speaker hates more)”
It’s a vote for a 3rd party, one that has people in both other parties jumping ship.
I don’t like either but I’d be willing to suffer a Clinton or Trump term if that was the cost for getting a 3rd party up on the same level as the others.
10 years ago at 12:47 pmAnd frankly, regardless of a few differences on (albeit significant) policies, I won’t be embarrassed to say I voted for Johnson in 10 or 50 years. Anyone in a swing state needs to think long and hard (and still vote with their principles). But if you live in a decided state, vote Johnson. Even if you’re a socialist vote Johnson and shake up the Big 2
10 years ago at 3:27 pmSo you’re going to vote for a guy with zero chance of winning in a third party that you disagree with, rather than a guy in your own party who can win that you disagree with?
10 years ago at 8:17 pmPretty much, why would I vote for someone I disagree with? Either the Republican Party needs to come back to where I was or I’ll find another option. It doesn’t work the other way around.
10 years ago at 10:17 pmFuck Gary Johnson and anyone who supports him #Trump2016
