HAHAHA this is hilarious. At no point have I ever said I was against drinking, its a fuckin blast. Its that frats and sororities that turn it into a competitive sport! Like honestly, I get the whole “We’re brothers/sisters and we went through pledging so we now have an unbreakable bond” but do you actually expect people to respect what you are or even remotely take you seriously when you tell them pledging is hard? Sorry, but not many people have sympathy for voluntary stupidity.

Voluntary stupidity? Pledging was hard, learning about your chapter and it’s history at your campus and nationally creates a common bond naturally. Living by a common ritual with a large group of successful U.S. citizens must also be a big deal. Sure you have to pass certain trails and tribulations to make it, but the minute you learn it all and are accepted, the world opens up to you. Geeds like you don’t understand that we are looking for the best of the best to join our houses. Pledges have to be strong academically and still be able to hold up with us. In most places our combined average GPA is higher than the campus average, which is where you fall into. Hell there are clubs on my campus that haze worse than any Greek house, so fuck off and continue to be jealous of what your future boss joined while you sat in your dorm room playing Call of Duty and watching gay porn.

PSK, I am not jealous and fyi, I am on the deans list every semester. You say you hold yourselves to higher standards and I ask, who’s standards are you comparing them to? As far as grades go, it is insulting that you think geeds are not capable of doing better. Yes, you have the fuck ups who do nothing but just because you got a little history lesson and got hazed a little does not make you smarter than anyone else.I would never claim that being in greek life instantly dumbs you down and drains your intelligence, its simply a distraction. Oh and just because you memorized some facts and names does not make you smart. Have you ever taken an advanced anatomy class? That is a lot of information to remember. You also ruined your entire point, which by the way is valid and the best anyone has given me thus far, by throwing an unintelligent and unthoughtful insult my way.

Please pay no attention of the geed behind the CAPS lock. He is obviously a hater in his own distorted way and trying to bait a fight. He will never get it and will in his self absorbed world always think he is right. His is not intellectual discourse he is a trying to draw us into a fight were we are mad and lose perspective.

Don’t give him what he wants. Don’t reply.

IHATEGREEKlIFE= you are the most fucking annoying Geed, go back to your Harry potter movies and your fml and talk about how shitty your life is. no Greek chapter will ever give you a bid so go pay for sex or talk to your 3 friends on xbox live. while at that go back to your shopping at aeropostale. Greeks are better than you and always will be.

  3. Civilized Society

IHATEGREEKLIFE, you want a civilized conversation about Greek life? Let’s do just that. People want to be a part of something bigger. Alright, I’ll give you that one. Those who choose to be a part of Greek life start off this “something bigger” in college in become a part of a fraternity/sorority in their younger years. Yes, the poster boy for a fraternity will be a 20 year old drinking beer with cases upon cases behind him while saying he loves vagina, golfing, sailing, hunting, hazing, the USA, and God while he deplores all women’s rights. And the poster girl for a sorority has a pearl necklace, designer hand bags, acts like a lady and then sleeps around with eighty guys every semester. However, those of us in the Greek community know there’s more to it and have been unable to explain it to you better. When my mother died in a car accident two years ago, my father called me and gave me the news. As he proceeded to call my siblings, I called my big brother, my grand big brother, and a few of my closest pledge brothers. Six of the seven I called were at my house within 24 hours. The seventh showed up two days later because he was finishing his honeymoon in Alaska. They were at my side before my family was, and they were at the wake giving condolences to my father. These gentlemen were there when it was necessary, they will continue to be there, and I will be there for them whenever they need it. Being in a fraternity IS about being a part of that bigger picture you mentioned earlier. Bash away, but good luck finding men of the caliber that are my Brothers of the bond.
